Here is a little 'background' on the SSPPG.
On 19 April 2023, four Siam Surgery Registered patients met and discussed the viability of forming a Siam Surgery Patient Partnership Group (SSPPG). There was a unanimous agreement that this proposal should be explored and a further meeting was arranged for 10 May 2023 and at this meeting there was a 100% commitment to continue.
On 17 May 2023, the group met with the Social Prescriber Team and learnt of their work in the Sudbury-Area Community and explored how the Core Team may be able to assist them.
On 7 June 2023, two senior members of the Siam Surgery Staff met with the four members of the Core Team. At this there meeting a 'frank and open discussion' between all present and the overall agreement was that there was an overwhelming need for a PPG dedicated to Siam Surgery Patients and there was an undertaking given that any current external agreements would be dissolved.
Also on 7 June 2023 meeting, and responding to a previous request from Siam Surgery Staff, the SSPPG Notice Board (the first Notice Board on the right as one enters the Waiting Area) was 'populated' with a list of some of the Aims of SSPPG, the local Pharmacy Open Hours and information from the Social Prescriber Team.
On 21 June 2023, and having read and agreed with the Aims on the Notice Board, another Siam Surgery patient attended the meeting. Having made positive contribution to the meeting was asked to join and agreed to be the fifth Core Team Member.
On 26 June 2023, Notice of the SSPPG IGM was posted on the Notice Board but, very surprisingly failed to attract anyone.
On 19 July 2023, the SSPPG held an Inaugural General Meeting (IGM) and 'officially launched' the SSPPG. During the meeting the SSPPG Constitution was accepted and members elected for ALL posts required by the Constitution.
Following the IGM, the Core-Team agreed the current Aims of the SSPPG, discussed some of the projects already underway and decided on the 'next steps' for current and future projects.
On reading the details above, the Group formed on 10 May 2023, the SSPPG Group started on 7 June 2023 and the 'official launch was 19 July 2023. We look forward to a good working-relationship with Siam Surgery Patients, the Staff and beyond.
